The START project is co-financed by the Erasmus+ Program. It is based on the Rome Communiqué of the Ministers responsible for Higher Education (November 2020), which sets the social dimension of higher education as a top priority and emphasizes the need to make further efforts to strengthen it.

The START project was prepared in accordance with two main directions, which are not only priority, but also extremely relevant in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA):
I. Social inclusion, validation and migrants;
II. The European system for the accumulation and transfer of credits, the European/National Qualification Framework, microcredits and the cooperation within the alliances of European Universities.

The main goal of the START project is the creation of indicators for higher education quality assurance which evaluate the social inclusion of students who are part of vulnerable groups, specifically students with disabilities and students who are migrants and/or refugees.

Enhancing Internal Quality Assurance Systems (EIQAS)

Founders of the project are nine organizations of higher education systems of four countries: Poland, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Portugal. This project is co-funded by the European Union and is the first project specifically designed to support the development of internal quality assurance (IQA) and bringing together both national quality assurance (QA) agencies and higher education institutions (HEIs). It aims to support HEIs in further development of their internal quality assurance systems based on Part 1 of the European Standards and Guidelines (ESG) and national agencies in further development of their methodologies for external evaluation of internal quality assurance systems at HEIs, thus addressing one of the standards in Part 2 of the ESG.
