Meeting between the leadership of the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency and the Minister of Education and Science, Mr. Krassimir Valchev

On the 20th of February 2025, at the initiative of the NEAA, a working meeting was held between the Minister of Education and Science, Mr. Krassimir Valchev, the President of the NEAA, Prof. Eliza Stefanova, members of the Accreditation Council of the NEAA, and the Chairpersons of the Standing Committees on Fields of Higher Education. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister, Prof. Nikolay Vitanov, and Lyubomir Yosifov, Secretary-General of the MES.

General guidelines for future actions were formulated and discussed to enhance the effectiveness of cooperation between the Agency and the MES, aiming to ensure higher quality in higher education in the Republic of Bulgaria.
Key challenges facing higher education that were addressed included:
• Better alignment of evaluation and accreditation indicators with the challenges of education and opportunities to promote the effective implementation of ongoing assessment methods and forms;
• The Agency's involvement in legislative initiatives to refine and supplement the Higher Education Act regarding the quality of higher education and the administrative organization of the NEAA's work;
• The implementation of higher education policies to encourage the engagement of highly qualified experts in the work of the NEAA;
• The persistent underfunding of the Agency's work and potential legislative measures to address it.
